If Yardwork Was Verse

Oh, verdant lawns of fair northern Indiana,
How they doth sparkle in the springtime sun!
But to keep them green, thou must give them a hand
With fertilizers rich to help them grow and run.

But what kind of fertilizer should one use, pray tell?
And how oft should one apply it to the grass?
And how may one keep the lawn safe and well?
Fear not, my friends, for I shall give thee counsel that will last.

First, there are two types of fertilizer, fair reader:
Organic and synthetic, each with its own grace.
Organic, made from natural sources, is gentler,
But synthetic, more potent, may give a quicker pace.

Second, when to fertilize doth matter much,
For timing can make all the difference in growth.
Early spring and late fall are good times as such,
When the weather is cool, and the grass is not loath.

Third, applying fertilizers with care is a must,
Lest thou cause harm to the lawn and to the soil.
Be sure to follow instructions, and don’t be unjust,
And spread the fertilizer evenly with proper toil.

Fourth, consider using a slow-release formula,
To give the grass a steady stream of nutrition.
This will keep the lawn healthy and full,
And prevent any damage or toxic inhibition.

So, my dear friends of northern Indiana,
Fertilizing thy lawn is an important task,
But with care and wisdom, ye can do it with aplomb,
And enjoy a lawn that doth shimmer and bask.
